Montpelier Chintz with Border, an authentic British Chintz that printed the classic Elizabeth pattern in two scales: the smaller one bordered by the bigger one on left side. Flower garland adorned with lace and satin ribbon, often named after Queen Elizabeth,  is one of the most romantic timeless designs.   Yet Old World Weavers’ version stands out in several ways: the 8 inches border, translucent quality in the pallet, and at last the crisp glazed cotton in high quality.

The Trompe-l’œil makes the lace and ribbon almost “touchable” from a distance.

Montpelhièr [mumpeˈʎɛ]) is a city in southern France near the Mediterranean Sea. In the Middle Ages, Montpellier was an important city of the Crown of Aragon (and was the birthplace of James I), and then of Majorca, before its sale to France in 1349. Established in 1220, the University of Montpellier is one of the oldest universities in the world and has the oldest medical school still in operation.

Color: Ecru/Salmon. Although Old World Weavers call the background “Ecru”, it looks more like a pale butter yellow to us.

Now such British chintz now goes for $200+/yard.
