Heavy and dense wool yarn is hand embroidered onto heavy velvet base.
Velvet base is 60% rayon and 40% cotton.
Crewel embroidery is in wool.
The wool threads form Jacobean style flowers, foliages and vines, then golden threads are added to highlight their silhouette.
The whole production process is long and labor intensive, thus the MSRP at $568/yard.
Once you feel the weight of 1lb 10 oz (740grams) per yard, you can tell same amount of material can use to produce 3-4 yards of lesser quality ones. The white wool on light gold background projects such tranquility.
As drapery, it will drape like liquid and offer first grade insulation, privacy as well as aesthetics.
