A regency damask woven in a new quality of silk with a douppion weft, giving a finely textured aspect like a faille ancienne. Its overall design very covering motif, with the ground barely visible, highlights the irregular weft and gives the fabric its luxurious body. Flower and fruit motifs create bands of shimmering, sometimes shot colors in a range of rich or tender shades. This magnificent damask is named after the governess of the young Louis XV. The Duchesse de Ventadour, a warm person represents this intermediary period overflowing with creativity, the transition between Louis XIV and Louis XV.
