Linen velvet by Lee Jofa.
Beyond words…
Gauffrage (French) means embossing.
First plain linen velvet is woven, then hot water is filled into a large cylinder where the pattern is carved in.
The heavy cylinder will continuously rolled over the velvet to create the embossed pattern on the pile.
Matteness and glossiness come together for a tone-on-tone textured effect.
Heavy, about 2lbs per yard.
Pattern: 960001.24. Color: Indian Red (rich red with a hint of orange undertone).
