Avvoltoio is one of those silk lampases that will make you hold your breath for a few seconds. The beauty is simply other worldly. Woven in one of the oldest silk mills around Lake Como, it’s from the same weavers who create textile for Pope, museums and historical sites.

This highly intricate design is a historical creation when cost was not a concern for the Kings. The elaborate and delicate rose garlands dances over fruity fuchsia pink, that also has a hint or real-rose in it; the a bright silver lace also blends into the background, adding another layer of .

A lampas is a traditional weaving technique wherein weft yarns “draw” on the fabric’s surface with minimal influence from the warp. These weft floats offer crisp color and subtle texture in the pattern’s finely rendered stems, leaves and blossoms.
