"Ting" means 亭, an erected and decorative architecture in traditional Chinese garden.

A space to rest and savory the beauty of the outdoors, but also to study, talk and have tea or even a meal. Europeans were infatuated with its indoor-outdoor functionality since 18th century. Ancient Chinese also built Ting as public space where people could shelter from bad weather or rest their feet.

Pavilion (亭) shares the same pronunciation as "rest" or "pause" (停).
